DCT-212 Digital Cordless
Communication System
The Tatung Telecom GoLink® DCT-212 Digital Cordless Communication
System provides telephone access to the mobile work force. A standard system
of eight base stations networked together, provides cordless communications
coverage of up to 13,000 m2 in an indoor
environment and up to 500,000 m2 in
an outdoor/unobstructed environment.
The extended network option accomodates up to 64 base stations connected together in a single system. The GoLink® network
supports up to 250 cordless handsets in an indoor coverage area of up to 100,000 m2
and in an outdoor/unobstructed coverage area of up to 3 km2.
The base stations connect to the analogue subscriber line interface of the PABX (Private Automatic Branch Exchange). The
system follows the ETSI Technical Specification 300-131 to manage the radio protocols between the base station and the
handset.
Because the GoLink® DCT-212 uses FDMA technology it is possible to install two or more networks side-by-side in the same
physical location. This can increase the number of users and traffic supported. Each network can be connected into the same
PABX; or, they can be connected into different PABXs. The handsets can be registered to multiple networks allowing access
to each network.
In contrast to the centralized controller approach that many others employ, GoLink® system does not utilize a central control
unit but depends on a local area network (LAN) and distributed call processing approach to process incoming and outgoing
calls. By doing so, Tatung Telecom is able to reduce the system overhead as an expensive network component because the
common controller is eliminated.

DCT-212 Base Station
Each base station supports two simultaneous conversations. When a call is initiated by a
handset, the handshaking protocol between the handset and various base stations in range
selects the base station and specific radio with the strongest signal.
Up to 250 handsets can be registered to a networked system. Each base station maintains a
list of the entire database of handsets, which means that any handset can access any base
station. Alternatively, any base station can call any handset.

DCT-212 Handsets
DCT-212 handsets are ETSI Common Air Interface standard handsets that are powered either by rechargeable
Ni-Cad or Alkaline batteries. These handsets contain numeric display, plus icons that indicate radio link
status, signal strength, battery and lock status. DCT-212 handsets support multiple network registrations
and private network registrations. They can handle call transfer and intercom calls, and have number
memory for speed dialing.
GoLink Programs
The Tatung DCT Program is used during installation to set the system-wide parameters which manage the interaction with the
PABX. The software helps the user define the base stations, the extension numbers, impose user restrictions and internal
management control.
